Online Discussion Options
Many graduate students complain about the intense isolation which accompanies their academic pursuits.
There's little time or opportunity to build friendships. Academic advisors often limit meetings to 15 minutes
or less. Competition and rivalry among colleagues in some cases edges out support and personal
involvement. Grad Resources offers several options for breaking down the walls of isolation through
stimulating conversation among peers.
Open Forums - Online Discussion Groups
As a service to grad students, Grad Resources will host a monthly email discussion group, based on participation level, designed so you can participate in a way that fits your schedule! Interested individuals are emailed a monthly article on a pertinent issue. The group's email comments are then collected and posted on our web site for review and further discussion. The free-thought discussion continues until the next article is distributed. Of course, Grad Resources has the right to refrain from posting objectionable comments. If you are interested in participating in a monthly discussion group, contact us. If you have suggestions for issues or articles to discuss, please feel free to email them to us. Email Partners (E-mentors)
No one understands the pressures of graduate students like a fellow grad. Grad Resources offers a support system that will connect you with another student via email. If you would like to be hooked up with a seasoned graduate student for potential email correspondence and mentoring, contact us. Although email partners may offer support and guidance in many areas, please understand that this is not a counseling service. If your needs are urgent and you need a crisis hotline, dial 1-877-GRAD-HLP. Feedback
To improve the quality of our services, Grad Resources welcomes your thoughts and ideas about our website and resources. Feel free to email us feedback on the website, ideas about article topics or discussion topics, or anything that's on your mind.
