Crisis Line Being Moved from Grad Resources to KBHC
In an effort to more effectively serve the needs of graduate students across
the country, the National Grad Crisis-Line (800-GRAD-HELP, 800-472-3457) is being moved
from Grad Resources to the Kristin Brooks Hopeline Center (www.hopeline.com). This will allow campuses
to promote this valuable resource without the faith-based organization
attachment.
However, Grad Resources will turn its focus toward the development of
community support groups for graduate students. If you are interested in
participating in a Grad Survival Group, a Great Books Reading Group or a
Christian Grad Community Group, please email us.
Below is a statement by Reese Butler, director of KBHC:
The National Mental Health Association has made a formal agreement with KBHC
to support the National Hopeline Network 1-800-SUICIDE services until such
time that KBHC is able to sustain the network on its own. We are anxious to
begin exploring a collaborative relationship with the fine leadership of the
Center for Mental Health Services and all stakeholders involved in working
to establish the strongest national suicide prevention hotline and related
services possible.
The KBHC Board remains dedicated to its mission of routing callers in crisis
to the best local community resource available. We hope to build a closer
working relationship with each of you, and look forward to creating an even
more productive future for all of our organizations working towards our
common Mission.
In memory of Kristin and all those who have lost their lives to suicide
there is no greater reward for me than to serve each of you and the
vulnerable consumers that you serve.
