While initially we approached this relationship with some caution because of their affiliate group Campus Crusade for Christ, that trepidation gave way to enthusiastic support and gratitude for the work they accomplished. AT NO TIME HAVE WE FOUND GRAD RESOURCES TO BE ANYTHING BUT PROFESSIONAL. They have revealed themselves to be a group committed to the betterment of graduate student life and sincere advocates in a campus community far too often negligent of our needs. Secondly, in regard to the establishment of a Grad Resources graduate student crisis line, I believe there is a need for just such a resource. While students here at Berkeley are provided with several hotlines and access to mental health counseling, nationally most students' mental needs are not met. For graduate and professional students, the situation is worsened by an experience that results in such a high degree of isolation. To create a resource for students at their most troubled time of need, that can better meet their unique needs, is invaluable even if it saves but one life.
